Champions of Special Olympics

Towns-Union Fall Special Olympics were held in Union County on November 13th. Students, teachers, para-pro’s, bus drivers, directors, and parents came out in great numbers for the event. 18 Towns County employees and 20 students participated.

Students on both sides cheered each other on, helped, and encouraged alike.

The events of the day were basketball dribbling, shooting, and passing as well as Galaxy Bowling. There were three age categories: 6-8 years, 9-12 years, and 13 +. Following the events, an awards ceremony and lunch were held at the Presbyterian Fellowship Hall.

Towns County students brought home an astounding 10 gold medals, 9 silver medals, and 10 bronze medals!

Towns County Schools would like to thank everyone who made this fantastic event possible. Thank-you, Dr. Church, for coming to the school and giving physicals to those participants who needed it. We truly appreciate Ingle’s, Dollar General, and Family Dollar for donating all the drinks for the event.

We would also like to thank the Towns County Ladies Auxiliary and VFW for their recent generous donation to Towns County Special Olympics which will be used toward our Spring games.
